Artist Statement
I started painting about ten years ago as I was approaching retirement. I usually work from photographs (that I sometimes glue to the back of the painting), and paint only with acrylics in a semi-impressionistic, folk artsy style. I draw inspiration from the abundance of beautiful and interesting topics found locally.
I was especially influence by my mother-in-law Hazel Rochester. Hazel painted local scenes of buildings and landscapes that she felt might not survive, as a record of what once was .
I hope you enjoy the exhibit.
